Program Services Prescott Group operates vocational, prevocational and employment support programs for adults who are intellectually challenged. Admission to the programs is limited to individuals who are twenty-one years of age and over, and reside in the former City of Halfiax. The primary focus of all programs is to provide a working environment that promotes personal growth in a variety of skill areas deemed pertinent to each individual. Client progress is monitored through the completion of daily information logs and evaluation of a wide range of skill areas, i.e. vocational, communication, social, and personal care. With both client and caregiver input, individual program plans are developed, including goals and objectives that maximize potential for independence. The operation of the vocational programs is combined with the operation of four small business enterprises that generate both vocational training opportunities for our clients and revenue to operate our programs. Clients working within the vocational programs are encouraged to consider employment within the community. The operation of the prevocational programs is combined with the operation of one of our small business enterprises. All of these programs provide vocational training opportunities for clients, though a client s participation may be limited because of health reasons or severity of intellectual challenge. In addition, all prevocational programs are structured to provide clients with a higher level of staff supervision, more opportunities for individual programming time, and opportunities to develop more personal independence. Vocational Programs Atlantic Bag Manufacturers Atlantic Bag Manufacturers is an industrial canvas sewing/silk screening operation, located at 3486 Prescott Street. ABM s products include canvas tote bags, aprons, and portfolios. These products are sold to wholesale customers from coast to coast and locally at Christmas craft shows. Fireside Kitchen Fireside Kitchen is a bakery that produces jams, fruitcakes, muffins, cookies, loaves and luncheon trays for a variety of customers. The program also provides muffins and cookies for purchase in-house during break and lunch times. Training Kitchen The Training Kitchen is an in-house service that prepares a reasonably priced lunch daily for sale to clients and staff. Prescott Mailing Services Prescott Mailing Services specialize in mail preparation including envelope stuffing, labelling, folding, collating, bundling, postal sorting, packaging, and shrink-wrapping. Pre-vocational Programs There are six pre-vocational I programs that teach work skill development through completion of contract work provided by Prescott Mailing Services, and one pre-vocational II program that focuses on leisure activity involvement and some work skill development.
