ardith one was established in 1971 by Bev (Ardith) and Bill Don with the prime objective of offering quality, functional pottery at affordable prices. Bill (former accountant) and Bev (former bank employee) both felt the entrepreneurial pull to do something different back in 1970 when they first met. The result was ardith one, Canadian Pottery & Crafts . We have represented hundreds of potters over our 35 years of business and it has been a very satisfying experience. We currently represent over 60 Canadian potters in our 1,000 square foot space on Yonge Street in Yonge Lawrence Village. Considered to be the definitive pottery shop, ardith one has become a landmark in the specialized field of Canadian handcrafted pottery. Hundreds of couples have registered for weddings, thousands of mugs have sold and tens of thousands of boxes have been gift wrapped! Once our customers find us, they keep coming back and now we are getting their children who are now, either, looking for gifts for their parents or trying to find the perfect wedding gifts for friends. They still remember "Bernie" our very aged tabby cat. Customers still ask if he s around even though he passed away over ten years ago. Bill hopes he is as well-remembered as the cat! We have a great appreciation for the craft and have to accept that most potters are just artists. These artists need to focus on producing both functional and beautiful work and not necessarily the business side...
