December 21, 2009 On Friday December the 18th the auction to support Brother Jason Caley came to a close. November 5, 2009 To prepare for collective bargaining with the CLRA, Business Manager Phil Halley requests that the membership forward their ideas in writing to the Union office , please clearly mark any submission as "CLRA 2010 Bargaining". September 16, 2009 Attention all Members; Please be advised that as per ATAC Committee directive, Lodge 359 will no longer reimburse Members for any training that is required for work outside of British Columbia s jurisdiction. If you have any questions, please contact the Coordinator. Also, please be advised that the Death Assessment premium for the 2010/2011 year will be increased from $100.00 to $125.00. Premium rates are based on the last 5 years of experience and the emerging demographics. Rates have not been adjusted since 2003. July 13, 2009 2009 Fall rumour list has been posted, click here July 7, 2009 Message to all Peerless Members, click here June 16, 2009 Attention All Active Field Members Only: In order to claim reimbursement of up to $220.00 for the H2S Alive course, you must have a copy of your certificate and receipt of payment in the Union office before September 3, 2009. Also, in order to be eligible for dispatch to any job site that requires an H2S Alive certificate after September 3, 2009 you will be required to have a valid H2S Alive certificate. May 26, 2009 It is with great sorrow and sympathy that we inform the membership of Lodge 359, that our Brother Tanner Valouch passed away on May 22nd at the age of 19. April 27, 2009 Notice to all members; All Fitter/Riggers dispatched to Spectra Energy sites will be required to have their Fitter/Rigger Certificate of Qualification Cards as well as all members must have WHMIS Cards. If you have lost or misplaced these documents contact the general office for replacements as soon as possible. WHMIS Cards can only be replaced by attending the office and completing a 15 minute WHMIS review exam. April 22, 2009 Notice to all Boilermaker Lodge 359 active field members only. In anticipation of work in the oil and gas industries in British Columbia, the Lodge will reimburse active field members only, the cost of "H2S Alive" training up to a maximum of $220.00. In order to be reimbursed you must successfully complete the course and provide the Union office with a copy of your certification and receipt. December 31, 2008 The Staff and Officers of Lodge 359 wish you and your families a Happy and Prosperous New Year. The Alberta/British Columbia Joint Expert Panel on Pension Standards have released their report which provides recommendations to harmonize and modernize the pension standards legislation. November 18, 2008 Unfortunately not much information has been forthcoming for a full rumour list, hopefully near the end of the year we will have a better idea of the contractors Spring schedule. Word is that a new package boiler may be going into the Chevron Refinery in the near future and possibly some work at Lafarge in January. For those interested in traveling, Newfoundland may have a large project on the go in February and Alberta should be busy again in late February or early March.
