PROFESSIONAL PAINTER SINCE 1992 Born in London, England June 1992 - Present Painter Self-employed painter since 1992, Bhat Boy is represented by Art Fifteen Gallery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Rouge Concept in Toronto, Ontario and the Art of Imagination Society which shows throughout Europe and the United States. His unique style is representational but imaginative, often conveying complex ideas and scenarios. Bhat Boy lives and represents himself in Ottawa. 1995 - Present Commissioned Works 2009 The Bronson People: the next generation. This community project is a traffic calming project first executed by Bhat Boy in 1999, consisting of 25 pieces mounted on telephone poles on the Bronson Expressway. Conceived and executed by the artist, partially in workshop form, and produced collaboratively the works were competed with the co-operation of the City of Ottawa and Ontario Hydro. In 2009 Bhat Boy will produce a second generation of figures in co-operation with the school board, the local arts community, the Glebe Community Association and the City of Ottawa. 2007 National Capital Painting. Part of Bhat Boy s 2007 Ottawa Series, this work focuses on the federal institutions around the Ottawa River. Commissioned by Brian McGarry for his new home. 2006 The Spirit of Fifth. This 5 ft x 6 ft private Glebescape commission embodied Susan Weis s relationship to her community and included numerous buildings no longer in existence. 2005 The Spirit of Eight. Bhat Boy was commissioned to paint this work for Hulse, Playfair and McGarry Funeral Homes to celebrate their 80 years of business. The 3 ft x 10 ft work depicts eight funerals through the decades, including the burial of four of Canada s prime ministers. 2003 Charlesfort s Glebe. 7 ft x 9 ft exterior painting of award-winning buildings built by Charlesfort Development Corporation within the community; located outside Starbucks at the corner of Bank Street and 3rd Avenue in Ottawa; owned and sponsored by Charlesfort Development Corporation. 2001 Tulips in the Capital. 4 ft x 8 ft acrylic painting on stretched canvas. Sponsored by the Canadian Tulip Festival and the Westin hotel. 1999 The Four Seasons. A panoramic portrait of a community with groceries as figures painted for Loeb, displayed inside the store. 1997 Dragons of the Glebe. 7 ft x 9 ft exterior painting of the surrounding community painted for the corner of Bank Street and 3rdAvenue in Ottawa, sponsored by Charlesfort Development Corporation, ownership currently disputed with Starbucks Coffee. 1997 Bad Habits. A 60 ft work on four walls with mirrors, windows, furniture, and metal panels commissioned for the private residence of Rod Bryden, former owner of the Senators Hockey team. Features Nuns in a pool bar with hockey players. 1995 Scotiabank Place (formerly the Corel Centre and the Palladium). 2 Murals, one in the Founders Lounge and the other in the Air Canada Lounge. 1995 Goldfish Pool. Bhat Boy painted a 40 ft x 60 ft public swimming pool in a goldfish motif as part of the City of Ottawa "Artist in Wading" project. The pool was painted in a chlorine-based paint, but had to be painted over after five years as a maintenance procedure. 1993 - Present Art in the Park Bhat Boy is the founder of the largest outdoor fine arts festival between Montreal and Toronto. Art in the Park is an Ontario registered not-for-profit corporation established as a platform for emerging artists to exhibit their work without the formal constraints of a gallery. The event has grown from 25 to 300 juried artists with an annual budget of over $40,000. Bhat Boy has held varying positions on the board including chief registrar, treasurer, and president. 1997 - Present Art Instruction and Lectures Skills taught focus on painting techniques, marketing and commercial success in today s world. Bhat Boy teaches painting in workshop form at community facilities, as well as giving classes in his studio. He has lectured at numerous high schools, grade schools, and professional artist associations in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines. 1996 - 1997 Photography Assistant Assistant to Canadian Photographer Evergon, artist in residence at the British National Museum of Photography, Film and Television, Bradford, England. Assisted Evergon on site photo shoots, sometimes in dangerous situations for the show "Manscapes: Truck Stops and Lovers Lanes" at the National Museum in Bradford and "Manscapes and Manscape Men" at Waygood Gallery, Newcastle, England.
