First, all of our floors are manufactured to the same standards. We arrive at the cost of our products by taking into consideration the value of the logs, the cost for sawing (some logs are easier to saw than others), the cost of delivery and any special requirements. We are confident that our prices are very competitive and would be happy to provide specific pricing for your job. In other words, start by thinking about how you want your new floor to look "”we will work with you to match the right wood flooring for your budget and your vision. 2. How do I choose the right type of wood for my home or office? An easy question, actually: all our woods will do a terrific job. We do take into consideration special circumstances such as radiant floor heating. There are no rules, however, we find that more formal homes often select maple or alder. Less formal (maybe rural) homes will often choose fir, hemlock or pine. In a large room, a wide plank might be a better choice while a smaller room may look best with regular widths. Our most common plank widths are three to seven inches. 3. Do you use old growth trees? Not in the way you might think. In the old days of logging, many logs were simply left on the ground. Many of those are still as good as they were when they were felled years ago. These need to be taken out by helicopter so we place great value on them and use them for their best use. Flooring is one of such use. Another source of wood for flooring comes from logs salvaged from lake bottoms. 4. What range of quality or specifications can I choose? Our specifications include three main classes, but all are manufactured to the same standards. Rustic: includes mixed grain and colourful knots. Character: has more edge grain and a few small knots to keep the look of real wood. Premium: usually reserved for old growth fir, hemlock or pine, is edge grain clears. It offers a very formal look, possibly for a room that has many other formal features. 5. Do you ship to the USA? Absolutely. Please check with us for shipping costs.
