We are the Canadian Wheat Board, the marketing agency for over 85,000 farmers who grow wheat, durum wheat and barley in Western Canada. Our role is to market these grains for the best possible price both within Canada and around the world. Sales revenues earned, less marketing costs, are passed back to western Canadian farmers. With annual sales revenue between $4 and $6 billion, the CWB is one of Canada s biggest exporters and one of the world s largest grain marketing organizations. Annually, we sell more than 20 million tonnes of wheat and barley to over 70 countries.A 15-member Board of Directors controls the CWB, with 10 directors elected by western Canadian farmers and five appointed by the federal government.Single desk selling -Instead of competing against one another for sales, Western Canada s 85,000 wheat and barley farmers sell as one through the CWB and can therefore command a higher return for their grain.
