FacilicorpNB was mandated to manage laundry services in the New Brunswick health system. On January 1, 2010, Fundy Linen, in Saint John, joined our Laundry and Linen Division. Fundy Linen provides quality, cost-effective, and efficient central laundry services to health-care facilities in southern New Brunswick. Our services include laundry pick-up, cleaning and delivery to facilities. We provide a complete range of products including white linen, surgical gowns, drapes, scrubs, incontinent care products, and a surgical pack service. Currently processing 7 million pounds of linen annually, the physical plant in Saint John is an ultra-modern and highly-computerized processing facility. The "reduce, reuse, recycle" philosophy has been incorporated into every aspect of our products, practices and operations. Hospitals and long-term care facilities are relieved of the daily management of laundry and linen processing. We take care of it, leaving health-care facilities to concentrate on providing quality health care. Fundy Linen is working to reduce costs in our health-care system. Our Quala ® tracking and online ordering system can identify problem areas for our customers, allowing for reductions in excess product consumption. Our reusable surgical packs contribute to the overall reduction in waste, lower costs for instrument replacement, and reduced storage and handling costs. Conversion to natural gas heaters and economizer units, as well as top-transfer tunnel washers, have led to reductions in energy usage, as well as overall water and laundry chemical savings, thus significantly reducing our greenhouse gas emissions.
