Each season PoCo Minor Baseball relies on its membership to provide volunteer time to ensure that PoCo Minor Baseball runs efficiently and provides the best environment possible for each player who participates. At registration, each family is required to provide a volunteer deposit of $100. This is not meant as a punitive measure but rather to encourage parents to help out. The expectation is that each family will provide 3 hours of volunteer time to the association. Once these hours are met, the post-dated volunteer deposit cheque will be destroyed. If the family does not meet their volunteer hours during the current season, they forfeit their deposit. The following qualify as ways to meet the volunteer requirement: Hold a position on the PCMBA executive. The executive is active all year, not just during the season. Generally, executive meetings are held once a month. -Perform the duties of coach, assistant coach or team parent. For PeeWee A and below, each team can only have one coach and two assistant coaches. For Mosquito AAA, PeeWee AA and above, each team can have one coach and three assistant coaches. Each team can have one team parent. The team parent acts as a liaison between the coaches and the parents, takes care of communication to the team and ensures that a scorekeeper and field crew is arranged for each game. Any additional coaches or team parents than are outlined above need to have prior approval of the PCMBA executive. -Volunteer for a PCMBA event. This includes helping at a tournament that we host, Picture Day, Hit, Run & Throw Day, Opening Day and concession. -Other volunteer opportunities may arise during the season and if so, they will be communicated to the membership. Parents are encouraged to refer to this website regularly for updates. Scorekeeping and field prep are ways that you can help out on your child s team but are not considered volunteering for the association. Parents of players in the higher divisions who are willing to perform these duties on a regular basis can contact the executive prior to the start of the season for this to be considered as their volunteer commitment.
