Therefore, as a parent and minor hockey coach, Ross conceptualized a protective shirt, made with the latest high tech fabrics that would protect, without sacrificing a players performance. In 2003, the company launched BODYARMOUR ®, a patented protective shirt. BODYARMOUR ® was designed to protect hockey players from lacerations in the critical areas through the wrists, arms, and under the arms. The following year, the company continued to expand its portfolio of protective and performance products. The company naturally expanded its cut resistant line of apparel in hockey and also into the sport of speed skating. The manufacturing for speed skating garments required that our products meet the very strict standards of the International Skating Union (ISU) for protection. At the same time, the company entered into a partnership with the Ontario Speed Skating Association to be their exclusive supplier of cut resistant garments and performance apparel. This opportunity provides synergistic cross sport branding of the BODYARMOUR ® line of products.
