The Polaris Institute (www.polarisinstitute.org) is designed to enable citizen movements to re-skill and re-tool themselves to fight for democratic social change in an age of corporate driven globalization. Throughout the first half of 2005, Alcan t and the Polaris Institute have joined forces to oversee a student internship program involving McGill students who completed a for-credit corporate research projects on ALCAN. Polaris provided the expertise in corporate analysis and their staff team trained and supervised the interns. This was a great opportunity for students to develop practical skills in critical analysis and corporate research and assist in the research and production of a corporate profile that will be used to promote corporate accountability.
