Roz Owen is an award winning writer and director who works both in drama and documentary. She has been working in Film, Television, and on her own independent productions, for the past eighteen years. In addition to her industry work, Roz has been teaching Television Production this past year at Ryerson University in Toronto. Roz Owen graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design after winning the Teresa Cha award for her film A PRECAUTION AGAINST THE INEVITABLE. Her first half hour drama, A LOVE OF CONTRADICTION travelled to many international film festivals and was also sold for broadcast. In 1993 and 94 she spent a year as a director resident at the Canadian Film Centre where she made her Genie nominated film YOU LOVE ME I HATE YOU which also sold many times to broadcast. Since then she has worked as a director in the TV industry for Disney, Alliance and the Discovery Network as well as directing a documentary about Interval House, the first women s shelter in Canada. All four of Roz s feature scripts have been optioned. In December 2006 she was awarded the Kodak New Vision Award, a national award for her feature drama script CLOSE BEFORE STRIKING.
