Opening Reception: October 1, 2010, 7 "“ 10 PM Artist Talk: November 13, 2010, 2 PM Latitude 53 Contemporary Visual Culture is pleased to present BLAZZAMO, an installation-based exhibition by British Columbian artist Kristi Malakoff. Malakoff s intricate, detailed works create a sense of enchantment and wonder, emphasizing "experiences that are sublime and exquisite." Kristi utilizes traditional two-dimensional materials to create a visual and emotional sanctuary for the viewer, animating media such as wallpaper, photographs, and cereal boxes, to breathe new life into everyday, insentient things. Kristi Malakoff graduated with a BFA from Emily Carr Institute in 2005. She has since exhibited widely and participated in a number of artist residency programs throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe. Most recently, she participated in a two month residency at Proekt Fabrika in Moscow, Russia in the spring of 2010. She recently returned to Canada from Berlin, Germany, and now resides in Nelson, British Columbia.
