The Ninety Ninth Monkey is a specialty retail store that specializes in only eco-friendly and healthy products. Goods in the store do not endorse the use of insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, defoliants, antibiotics, known carcinogens and growth hormones. Products that incorporate the practices of irradiation, genetically modified organisms, unfair trade and cruelty to animals are not found in the store. Instead the goods sold will adhere to the promotion of sustainability and harmony with our environment. Everybody has the power to begin to make small changes towards a way of life that is in synchrony with our planet and our bodies. Why my passion for body and earth friendly products? As a young child I lived on a farm where "organic "was not a trend but simply the way of life; this environment gave me my fundamental values. Then, my parents did not use herbicides, pesticides, chemical additives, growth hormones, etc. Crop rotation, cattle manure, hoeing and weeding were how things were done. I learned to have the utmost respect for animals, plants and the soil. Back then an organic farm did not have to be certified, licensed or regulated. It just was! Today, oddly we do not have to legislatively certify crops or products that have been sprayed or infused with synthetic chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones etc.; disclosure of these toxins is not mandatory. The tomato that you purchased in the grocery store does not reveal in writing the fungicides that were sprayed on the tomato field. Yet it is mandatory for an organic product to be certified. We have created a world where things are backward to the natural. Organic should just be and the chemically exposed products should be identified/regulated/certified. We have lost the basic natural and we must now put in a big effort to revert to something that should just simply be! I have studied Animal Health Technology, Finance/Accounting and taken courses in Nutrition, Energy Medicine etc. I have trained in martial arts and truly believe that striving for a healthy body and mind helps to create a healthier world. Our Health is the greatest asset that we own! If you respect your body you will respect the earth. I have been involved in environmental issues throughout my life including the prevention of the construction of a nuclear refinery on agricultural soils. My children gave me the greatest life lessons and have been the inspiration for "The Ninety Ninth Monkey" store. My children are my teachers. The youth of today will have to work hard to repair the environmental legacy that my generation has left behind. I have an intense enthusiasm to encourage health and environmental awareness. I am constantly learning from people. I support Canadian, Fair Trade and Organic. Always be aware that we have choices.
