L.E.A.C. STAFF All L.E.A.C counsellors are experienced EAP professionals with Master s degrees in psychology, social work or educational counselling. Staff are members of professional organizations, including the Ontario Psychological Association, the Ontario College of Social Workers and the Ontario Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. They strive to provide assistance in helping to alleviate personal and interpersonal problems before they lead to more serious difficulties. Each therapist brings their own unique talents and skills to the therapeutic relationship. Your L.E.A.C. counselor is your ongoing mental health practitioner and is available to help you and your family as new challenges arise. Even though a client has terminated with their therapist, they can choose to re-contact at any time for the same or for a different issue. Although you might re-contact with L.E.A.C. because of a new concern there is comfort and a sense of familiarity as you and your counselor develop a confidential and trusting relationship. You might decide that you would like to see someone new or have a particular preference to see a male or female counselor. This can be arranged. We strive to accommodate your work hours and appointments can be offered within 5 working days unless you have a specific request for a certain time. Support, understanding and problem resolution in a relaxed and objective setting are the mainstays of the service. The counseling process itself may be brief and short term or continue on for several months depending on the need. There is NO CAP on the number of sessions available to you and or your family members. When your initial goals have been realized, you and your counselor will determine the appropriate time to terminate sessions. Back to the Top CONFIDENTIALITY An important feature to any counselling program is confidentiality. Disclosing sensitive personal information is protected by law and by professional ethics. Your company has no acknowledgement of your attendance to L.E.A.C. nor do they receive any personal information about you or your family without you having given verbal or written permission to do so. L.E.A.C. counsellors have staggered appointment times to help ensure your privacy. Exceptions to the general principle of confidentiality will be outlined at your first session. When you initially call you can expect to be asked a few basic intake questions regarding your name, address, place of work, telephone numbers you can be comfortably reached at, family information and nature of your problem (ie: personal, marital, family or work related problem) and if you are a new or re contact client. If for some reason you are connected to our 24hr a day answering service during daytime hours, your message will be forwarded to our office. All calls are returned promptly. Our office is open Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and Fridays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
