Brantford s Canada Day Festival was incorporated on 27 October, 2004 as a Not-For-Profit Corporation Without Share Capital. As a stand-alone association, we have an independent Board of Directors, a Constitution and Bylaws and our own set of financial records which are audited on an annual basis. This independence means that we are free to design and produce the best possible festival we are capable of. It also means that the association is truly owned and operated by the community, a critical element to the long-term health and viability of the event. With an affordable membership, virtually anyone can be a member and have an opportunity to sit on the Board. Our organization clearly understands the need to involve the community. This is reflected in our approach to involving many other organizations in the production of the features of the festival. For example, we have church groups and Scouts Canada groups that do programming in our Young Canadians Play Area, we have the Canadian Military Heritage Museum come in with their exhibit, and we have the Immigrant Settlement Association assist with the Citizenship Celebration. Further, we enjoy excellent support from the police, fire and ambulance services as well as the municipality of Brantford. In addition, we have been able to derive great support from our corporate community in the form of cash and in-kind support.
