The BCSMA was registered March 24, 1992 in accordance to the British Columbia Societies Act. The association was formed by a concerned group of structure and house movers with the aim of improving our industry. Full membership is open to all companies involved in the structural (houses and other buildings) moving and lifting industry operating in British Columbia. The BCSMA also encourages associate memberships of those individuals and companies affiliated with the industry. Member companies agree to abide by the rules and regulations set out by all local authourities and conduct themselves in accordance to the BCSMA by-laws. The BCSMA is a member of COCA (the Canadian Organization of Construction Associations), and the >BC Recycling Association We have also been active members of the Workers Compensation Board of British Columbia task force to improve safety in our industry group. The British Columbia Structural Movers Association s Executive consists of a President, a Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer, and three other Directors, representing different areas in British Columbia.
