How Light Therapy Works: Chromophores in our cells are activated by light energy. This in turn increases the energy output of the cells. With repeated treatments the health of the injured part improves. Low level laser has been in use in Europe since 1980. This modality has been available in Canada since the early 90s. The FDA in the USA gave formal recognition of this treatment in 2002. Over the past twenty years, the technology and understanding of this therapy has vastly improved.
