Mediastats was founded in 1974 as a consulting firm that specialized in compiling and disbursing information on the Canadian broadcast and cable industries. Over the past 30 years, the company has grown into a full-service research house that provides an extensive range of telecommunications information services, including data on many world markets, to an international clientele. Two individuals formed the company, and operated the business from their home until 1989. Mediastats now employs a workforce of over two dozen people, many of whom work at our Markham Ontario office, and many of whom work from "hoffices" home offices, and who are connected to Mediastats via our Windows NT / Internet network. In 1993 Mediastats purchased John Rode Data Systems, a software services company, and incorporated software development (and the creation of data/software packages) into its product/service line-up. John Rode (former President of John Rode Data) is now Senior Vice-President of Mediastats Incorporated and MediaLAB, and is the company s CIO. Today, Mediastats and MediaLAB provide information, consulting and data management services that are both extensive and unique, making us ideally suited to serve the players in the international communications industry. Mediastats specializes in research, consulting and information management. We have an extensive team of researchers who gather data, and consultants who format/analyse it. We gather information on international cable, television, radio, satellite, telephony, MMDS, LMCS and other industries. Mediastats also conducts telephone research projects. Our specialties include: product expansion/launches, satisfaction studies, equipment penetration analysis, license applications and renewals, channel placement and realignment. Unique to our service is the fact that all research results are tied back to mapped data, meaning that survey results can be compiled and thematically analyzed by cable licensed boundary, (sub-grouped by MSO, system class etc.), by broadcaster contours, by satellite footprints, microwave corridors, postal codes, or any other set of geographical criteria. MediaLAB specializes in software development, again for the communications industry. We emphasize information management software package development, our most notable product being Database Manager. As a team, our companies emphasize turnkey projects where information requirements are specified, data is gathered/compiled, information and analysis are presented, and in many cases, electronic data systems, complete with manuals and training, are installed. Presentation options include electronic systems, paper reports (including maps), multimedia presentations, slide shows, and even professional narrations.
