There are as many myths as there are diets, the bottom line is diets don t work and proper nutrition does. Nutrition and lifestyle coaching (NLC) is a no nonsense way of filtering through diet and nutrition myths. There are as many myths as there are diets, the bottom line is diets don t work and proper nutrition does. There are several steps involved for weight loss, weight gain and good health. These tests below are a typical protocol for a NLC practitioner, which provides important information about a client s health and where to begin helping them achieve overall health. 1. Fill out a metabolic typing questionnaire. This tells the client if they are a carbohydrate, mixed or protein type. One of these types dictates the client s biochemical individuality. Example: Your mother is a vegetarian and your father is a carnivore, you are a combination of both. Let s say your mother did all the shopping and cooking and it was all vegetarian. To make this short, you would not have been eating to accommodate your biochemical individuality. 2. Fill out a health appraisal questionnaire (HAQ). This checks all of the clients systems like heart, lungs, liver, bowel, kidneys, sex organs, brain, central nervous system, skin, etc, etc"¦ Each section will have a rating of low, medium, or high. High being a state of priority which would be addressed first unless there are multiple highs on the chart. In that case to make things simple you could start with the very left hand column. Which brings us to our next topic the bowel? 3. Fill out the Colon transit time test. The client eats beets, activated charcoal, or a can of corn if they don t have other colon issues like polyps, diverticulosis, and or colitis. Having done that the client marks the time they took any of those and waits for it to make it s way out the back door. A time is marked when they first see it and another time is marked when they last see it. The amount of time the ingredients takes to pass will give important information. 4. Sleep and activity log. This will determine if the client is getting the required sleep to help heal the body. Activity log allows the client to see if they are doing too much or not enough. Quick and helpful suggestions for proper nutrition. "¢ Divide your body weight in half and drink that number of ounces in clean pure water per day. "¢ Eat fresh organic meats and vegetables. "¢ Avoid anything that comes in a box or package, this means it has been processed or modified for packaging and production. This includes some organic products which may have small amounts of organic ingredients. "¢ Avoid sugar, processed breads, pasta. "¢ Don t food combine; an example would be protein with an orange juice, or having desert after meal. This usually causes a chemical reaction and the sugar putrefies the protein. Eat fruits 30 min before the protein or several hours after the protein. "¢ Structure your meals in an inverted pyramid. Breakfast should be your largest meal with protein being a large component. Dinner should be the smallest meal and protein still being a large component of the meal. "¢ Stop eating before 8:00 pm, this includes snacking.
