Don't use this company. Don't trust what they say on the phone. Prices are not what they advertise or quote

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY TO DO YOUR MOVE, even if you think it's small scale.

I heard about movers adding hidden costs to their hourly fee, so when I spoke with the person at Rapid Movers I very clearly asked if there were additional costs. The advertised price was $40/hour for 2 movers and a 28' truck. This is what I was told: a) automatic charge of 1 hour for travel time; b) extra cost for appliances (which we weren't moving, so no issue there, I thought; c) one time fee of $15 per mover for each set of stairs (we had 2 sets of stairs, so $60)

THIS IS WHAT THEY ACTUALLY CHARGED:
a) $45/hour - there is a $5/hour truck fee that they don't tell you about
b) $20 per mover FOR EACH "heavy" item that has to be lifted, NOT JUST APPLIANCES
c) $1 per stair per mover - we didn't know the exact number of stairs, so he estimated a charge of $80
e) $250 deposit BEFORE the truck is loaded
f) AFTER the truck is loaded, the mover estimates how much time the rest of the move will take and makes you pay that amount before they will continue with the move

When they showed up at my house I was angry about the extra costs and their manner of doing business. This is what the owner, Mike/Mark, said to me:
a) I was told about the extra charges over the phone; A FLAT OUT LIE
b) We signed the invoice (our mistake) so it was too late to do anything

THEN HE HUNG UP and refused to answer the phone for the rest of the day! TRUST ME you do not want to deal with this company. We paid double what I was quoted on the phone. I wish I had read the reviews on this company before hiring them. Turns out their practices are typical of many moving scams. Read the links for the articles below and be forewarned.
