Moving Costs

I contacted this company based on there add in Kijiji for moving, I was told:

1 truck 2 men for $40 per hour plus 1 hour travel of $40. I agreed to this. I asked twice if there were any hidden charges and stated that I don't like surprises. I was told no surprises that was the price.

When the drivers arrived this is what happened:

I was told I had to pay 2 hours travel as opposed to the 1 hour travel

I was told $1.00 per stairs they had to go up and down

extra $$ for any box over 60 lbs

minimum 4 hour charge

$400 deposit before they would even load the truck

I had to agree to this. When you book movers you are kind of stuck at the last minute. In order to save money I had some friends over and told the drivers do not lift any box you feel you will have to charge extra for also no need to walk up and down the stairs my friends and I will bring everything out to the garage for them to load. They didn't like that. The drivers said they still had to charge a minimum of $40 for the stairs. (Note the drivers did minimum work).

this company did not give full disclosure and on top of that I left a message for the owner on the day of the move and to date he has not called me back.

Be careful of this company they nickel and dime you. There add is a ploy to get the business then sucker you for a bunch of extras. I would have perfered to be told the truth up front. This company acted very unprofessional. I feel this company has been dishonest and should be held accountable for there false information. There price ultimately worked out to $150 per hour.
