Shops, Products, Services

"subject award/3rd grand prize"

"you have been drawn as a lucky sweepstakes winner of unclaimed prize for 100, 000.00. Our system indicates that you were drawn as winner on Feb 5th, 2009. All participants were selected through a computer ballot system drawn from readers digest, national publishers clearing house sweepstakes databases, part of an international lottery commission, which is conducted annually."

the rest of the letter says to contact Mary Banks @ 1-514-569-0552 before feb 24th 2009. The check was drawn on bank of america, in the amount of 3177.76

Thank you canada-complaints.com REPORT for allowing me to research this, read previous postings about this scam, prevent myself from being swindled, and report the crooks myself. I called the number on the letter, armed with the knowledge that it was a scam & they hung up on me when I told them I had a bank of america branch manager say they would put a 10-day hold on the check to ensure the funds would clear first. BEWARE! It IS a REAL check, complete with the black light watermarks and fingerprint security & passed the bank's counterfit tests, so I guess to a teller not knowing any better COULD have cashed it. That's the scary part.
