Jerry Scofield
, Investment Services International Promotions Program (IPP), Readers Digest Sweepstakes

Miscellaneous

I received a winners notification from a Jerry Scofield about a Reader's Digest winning of $75, 000. Included in that same letter was a check for $3, 184.61. My name was supposed to have been drawn from a computer ballot system drawn from Reader's Digest, National Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes Database from Australia, New Zealand, Europe, North and South America, part of an International Promotions Program (IPP) which is conducted annually. My name was supposed to have been drawn on May 14, 2008 and the deadline to claim my prize of 75K was June 13, 2008. I was to contact a Mary Taylor, a claims agent, at 514-574-2161 (same number for Jerry Scofield)

My first thought was Friday the 13th? Anyway, I decided to contact Reader's Digest for a winner's list and in that e-mail, I also requested to know if this notification was legitimate. I got an answer back within an hour. It was not legitimate.

In the meantime, the letter was supposed to have come from Provider Plus, Inc. Services in Omaha, Nebraska. The Bank stated on the check was American National Bank in Omaha, Nebraska. I checked both businesses out before contacting Readers Digest. Provider Plus is a legitimate Medical Supplies company in Nebraska and American National Bank is also a legitimate Bank with about 10 branches or more in Omaha, Nebraska.

I am glad I decided to e-mail Reader's Digest before anything else. I have also seen other rip off reports here on the same person (only in my case he is going by Jerry Scofied instead of John Scofield) and I am wondering why this guy has not been arrested when his address and phone numbers are clearly listed. You can even find his address on the map. Go Figure.

Consumers beware!!!
