Kirkland & Ellis
LLP Reader's Digest Promotional Sweeptakes FRAUD! PLEASE DO NOT DO WHAT I DID! Check from AVIVA $4350?

Miscellaneous

It all started when i was looking through my mail and i had encounter a strange letter. It had stated from Kirkland & Ellis LLP that i had beeen a winnner among 126 finalist, and that i had won $425, 000 from Reader's Digest Lottery. THATS ALOT OF MONEY and i know for sure i did not apply for anything from Reader' Digest. SO i had thought about it and i told myself that in the past i did had a relationship with Reader's Digest and this prize was mine to keep... On the bottom of the letter there was a number to call 1-778-882-3864 and a check that was atttached to the letter for $4350.00 under my name from AVIVA insurance. I was sooo excited to see this check because it really loook like the real thing. It also said that "you are required to contact Attorneys with the information... before activation of your check". I had called and a guy by the name of John Wallace answer and he had asked me for my file NO. so i gave it to him... moments later hes informing me about the prize $425, 000 that i had won from Reader's Digest. I had asked a numerous of questions... from HOW DID U GET MY ADDRESS to HOW IM I A WINNER. He had informed me that the check was to cover taxes that i had to pay. After he had me convinced, im thinkin IM a WINNER!!! I followed his directions... by going to wal mart (Yea i know, Wal Mart?) apperently it was for money grant. So i cash the check and follwed his directions... from picking the right form to even filling out the form. When i was done i had to pay $4223.00 and i did with the check cash and i now have $127 left over. I felt like there was something wrong while i was doing this.. Mr. Wallace had also informed me that there was only two other americans that won and the probability of winning was .005% .So later that day i went home and did some research and found out that i WAS NOT the ONLY ONE nor the only one with the same problem. It felt reallly strange from the moment he picked up the phone to sending me to WAL MART... So i put two and two together and now i feeeel stupid for doing that..NOW i dont know what to do with the money left over... and the money i send to him... These people have no morals and it made me upset for thinking im a winner. What does AVIVA insurance have anything to do with Readers digest anyway?? Im just a college student living by myself and this really makes it worse..I had call back AND complain to Wallace that it was not fair and injustice for them to d something like that, i even said he could keep alll my winnings lol. Someone please help
