Scam, Check enclosed for $4200.00, drawn on Chase Bank

Received a letter today from Canada, letter head stated Capital Direct but the logo didn't match Capital Direct's website. Letter indicated that this is a Final notice, with a serial number and Winning Numbers from "The Mega Millions Draw" held April 21st, 2007. The check is to cover taxes in the amount of $3200 which they would accept via MoneyGram or Western Union, my choice.

The letter directed me to contact a Michael Davis before I acted on this at 1.604.537.6918. He told me that Wal-Mart, WalGreen, and several other stores got together and decided to draw names from their customers and give them money, and that I had been selected as a third category winner and therefore am entitled to $250, 000.00. The Tax Agent was listed as Terrence Fasano, 4280 - Riverside Rd., Fort Nelson, BC, Canada

I checked the ABA routing number and it resolved to J.P. Morgan Chase Bank who reported the check was good, and drawn on Bay-Houston Towing Co.'s account. When I phoned Bay-Houston Towing Company (in Houston, TX), I was routed to a very nice lady named Sharon who told me this is an active case which now has the local police investigating. She was thankful for me not cashing the check, and took my contact info for follow-up.
