Ripoff Makes Empty Promises

On July 5, 2002 I was contacted by a Steven Miles from First Capital Consumers, stating that I had been approved for 2 credit cards. One with a limit of $2, 000 and the other with a limit of $2, 500. All I had to pay was the one time activation fee of $199. We set it up to be debited from my checking account on July 11, 2002. The money was withdrawn on July 16, 2002.

I was told by Mr. Miles that I would receive my "packet" of information in the mail in 2 weeks. After 4 weeks and several calls to their customer service department (which all were long distance to Canada) I received my packet of information.

I mailed my "activation" card on August 26, 2002. As stated on this activation card "Once you've activated your account, your personalized Stored Value Mastercard will be mailed to you within three weeks." It is now October 3, 2002; I still haven't received my card and have made several more failed attempts to contact anyone in their customer service department.

I phoned today and spoke with a lady and she said "A letter was sent out to your home Monday letting you know the reason for the delay in receiving your card." I told her this was not acceptable and that I wanted to speak to a manager there.

She proceeded to put me on hold for 20 minutes and their phone system disconnected me at that point. I then checked the internet and found your reports and web site. I am hoping that you will be able to help me and that others will be forwarned about this terrible company.
