RD Group International
FRAUD TRAP FOR JOB SEEKERS - BEWARE

Miscellaneous

I recently got a call from RD Group International and was asked by a lady to meet with one of the company's senior directors - William xxx. I went to the office (just two days ago) and when I first step out from the elevator, the office looks very much like a dental or family doctor office, with mom and kids, and couples sat on the chairs while the receptionist sat behind two glass windows. My first instint signified that I must be in the wrong address - I went down and attempted to make a phone call to confirm my appointment.

After the call, I assured that the address is in fact correct and went back to the office. I was introduced by William xxx, who is in a professional attire and I was subsequently invited to his office. The office looks unusual - dark and very old-fashion. I sat down and took out my resume - the guy saw my resume and immediately took my resume for his reference. I found this quite suspicious given the fact that he was reading my resume and have no clues of my background. He then fired out a whole bunch of questions and telling me about their expertise in helping financial professionals and executives with career searches. His tone was harsh and authoritive - I have been to numerous job agencies and the shop's practice is no doubt different from their peers. I was not impressed by the way he questions me and near the end of our conversation, I was asked to fill out a few forms. When I looked at the forms, I got an impression that the shop did not appeared as a recruiter but in fact, some sort of career counselling firm. Since then, I got a feeling that sooner or later, I could be charged for the service. I completed the forms and the guy came in and wraped up our conversation. He didn't scheme through my completed forms and again, gave me some non-sense speeches about my qualifications and subsequently, invited me back for a second interview. At that moment, I felt something fishy is going on - normally, after being interviewed by a recruiting agent, they would either refer you to their clients (i.e. employers) without going through a second interview with them again. The Senior Director was very anxious to book an appointment with me the next day for the second meeting and because I was pressured by his harsh and authoritive tone, I agreed to meet with him again (but hestitating what the second meeting is for).

Coincidently, I have rescheduled my appointment to the following week which allows me to do research on this company - found out lots of bad experiences and stories from other job seekers related to this firm. I am quite upset to have my personal information released in this manner. Although I may not be able to take any legal action against them, I would hope that by filing the 'ripoff report' and sharing my bad experiences in this blog can give a warning to those 'sincere job seekers' from falling into their 'fraud trap'.
