Very shady company... Be sure to read this, my friend

Health & Medicine

So, I was working a part time job, struggling to make ends meet when I saw this eye catching ad on Craigslist which read something along the lines of "Make 1000 to 2000 dollars a week! " Being a minimum wager, I of course was all over that like sh*t on velcro.

So I called 'em up and they set me up with an interview. The first tap on the shoulder from Mr. Conscience and Mrs. Bullsh*t detector came when I asked the owner what the turnover rate was and he'd answered- and quite hesitantly- "uh... quite high as a matter of fact..but uhh... not everyone's uh... cut out for this job... but you have upper class management written all over you...*cough*..."

Afterwards, they said to come back the next day to go with about 3 other hopefuls and watch some guy sell spa packages and not get paid for it. After the day was done, they hired myself and the others on the spot. At this point, Mr. Concscience and Mrs. Bullsh*t detector were picking out my outfit to wear the next day.

The next day, they sent us out to the next town over to sell these fabulous spa packages which included 300 dollars worth of products and services at 90% for only 47 dollars. They specifically told us to pretty much break into office buildings marked "No Soliciting", they told us to be sure to follow them straight to the bank or the bank machine, they told us to be aggressive and relentless in making a sale. After my first day, I got to thinking:

"You know, burgalers also use these tactics as well, don't they? "

The other thing that I thought was kind of interesting was that they offered you the choice of salary and commission or commission only. So after about two days of getting kicked out of malls and business, evading security guards and police officers and then coming home to discover that I had actually lost 14 bucks that day, I asked them if I could take the salary. The salary was 11 dollars an hour plus 5% of your sales. So I did the math and I think it works out to about $13.35 an hour. They said "oh, you make more money working commission only."

So then I really started to ponder...

"Hmm... You have no choice but to work commission only, your lousy joke of a trainer makes five bucks off each of your sales, you pay the gas, food and lodgings for your business trips sans reimbursment, the cops and security guards have heard of Ad Efx and frown upon them and you're encouraged to lie, badger and harass to make a sale..."

I called them up the next day to tell them that I wasn't going to work for them. They answered "I'm sorry, what did you say your name was again? "
I guess the turnover rate really was quite high after all, and for damn good reason too.

So, the moral of the story, Ad Efx is a horrible rip off pyramide scheme. I encourage you to never purchase these salon and spa packages as- save for winning the lottery and or going out on a date with Angelina Jolie- some things really are too good to be true.
