Iomega Prestige 1.5TB External Hard Drive
Warranty is Ridiculous

Computers & Services

This is my e-mail record of what happened when I sent back the hard drive 1 week after I received it. It failed within a week!

"Hi Richard, I recently received the replacement hard drive from Iomega. Although you sent me the hard drive in record time. 3 business days, the drive is incorrect!!! The serial number on the case is TJA91822BA the drive is only a 1 TB drive and not a 1.5TB which was the original of my drive. IT CLEARLY STATES ON THE DRIVE THAT the hard drive enclosed is a SEAGATE BARRACUDA LP 1TB with Serial Number: 9vx0410C PART NUMBER: 9TN154-510 with FIRMWARE: CC32 Date Code : 10044. I do not mean to be a bother, but this is absolutely ridiculous. not only that Iomega has clearly replaced this with a used drive?! with a sticker that says on the case "This is a remanufactured product. Some of the components may have been replaced and/or repaired. This product meets Iomega's quality assurance standards. RMX03G"

THE CASE AND ITS INTERNAL HARD DRIVE ARE NOT CORRECTLY MATCHING. To verify as well I re-registered the product and it tells me its a 1.5TB PRESTIGE HD which it CLEARLY IS NOT!

Please advise me on this matter.

The speed in which they sent me the warrantied product was incredible, however upon booting up the drive I saw there was only 931 GB on supposedly 1.5TB drive! I took off the two screws holding the drive to the case and pulled it out. VOILA it said right on the drive label that it was a 1TB drive. I purchased a 1.5 TB!!! Now how am I suppose to prove this! the case that holds the hard drive has a serial number that when registered with IOMEGA says it is a 1.5 TB device. You would have thought that they would double check that before they inserted the wrong sized drives into their respective cases. This is absurd. I don't think Iomega products are worthy of being on the market place at this point as I have read my fair share of people who have had similar problems with this company.By the way, it is virtually impossible to get customer support, and if you want phone support be ready to pay $25 USD regardless of what your question is about. RIDICULOUS!
