Pattison Leasing Pattison Industries ripoff ..they say we're a large company, a complaint wouldn't make any difference ..take a hike

A while back we bought a vehicle from Jim Pattison Lease in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, a division of Pattison Industries a international company. We selected the Malibu and took delivery on Nov. 15, 1999. On the day of delivery there were a number of documents that I was asked to sign. One of these documents was saying that I received an Inspection Certificate, there is a requirement to have a current Inspection Certificate. The certificate that was presented with had an inspection date of June 14, 1998, which had expired. I pointed this out to the rep (Chris Murray) and he said that he would obtain the current inspection certificate. On November 17, 1999 he faxed the same inspection certificate to myself and asked that I sign the attached document to 'acknowledge receipt'. I call him back to say this was the same certificate and that it was not acceptable.

I called Chris Murray to question this situation. After a number of calls back and forth he indicated that there was nothing that Jim Pattison was prepared to do - basically take a hike. I asked to talk with the manager, Doug Rasmussen, he indicated that he supported Chris. I went to the office of Jim Pattison and meet with Doug Rasmussen. This caused a rather heated discussion. I indicated that I was prepared to 'raise HELL'; Doug (the sales manager) told me: " Jim Pattison Leasing is a large company and have been around for quite a while and my complaint wouldn't make any difference.

None of this would really matter if the vehicle was in good shape, but a short time later things started to go wrong, things that would/should have shown up as a result of the Inspection Certificate Report. Things like the tires, a service garage wouldn't let us take the vehicle out on the road because they said the tires were not safe. I had my family in this vehicle and Jim Pattison had told me the vehicle was SAFE.
