Money scam

I recieved a letter from Tri-Star inc with a check in closed in it. The check was writen for the amount of 4250.00. So I read the letter stating that I needed to call a number to active the check. This seem really funny to me. So, I Had my sister look at it since she is a banker. One look and told me that it was a scam.
