Now closed ripoff dishonest fraudulent billing under investigation

I recently drove by Oasis Fitness and saw that they had closed their doors. I wonder how many clients they have screwed (thankfully I did not become a member there - I joined Frog's Gym instead). However, in case there is anyone out there who has been mistreated by the owners of Oasis, I thought I'd post an article I found in a Sudbury newspaper (another city where Oasis closed its doors):
Investigation centers on Oasis' business practices
Following the closure of Oasis Fitness and Wellness Centre in the Rainbow Centre last week, owner Chris Mulchinock left town but may be drawn back for a possible criminal investigation into his business practices.
Police have received numerous calls over the years in regards to Oasis with complaints usually involving members being billed multiple times within a month, but told members to file their grievances with the Ministry of Consumer Relations.
Dan Cure, with the ministry, met with Greater Sudbury Police Service detective Dick Kress in Sudbury this week to discuss the sheer volume and nature of many of the complaints received concerning Oasis.
Kress is investigating to complaints to determine whether or not criminal charges and a further investigation is warranted.
Kress is also encouraging people who have had problems with Oasis to contact the Ministry of Consumer Relations at 1-800-268-1142. Kress, in co-operation with the ministry, will review the complaints and judge the merits of mounting a criminal investigation.
In related Oasis news, just two days after Mulchinock told the Northern Life that the North Bay store was in no danger of closing, it has shut its doors leaving only stores southern Ontario operating under the Oasis flag.
This article was published in August 2005, so I'm certain the investigation is ongoing. I hope this helps former clients of this fitness center.
