ETS - EXpress Transactions Services Telemarketing Scam, Sold paper rolls unrequested to us

This company claims to have permission from my staff to send us rolls of paper for our interac machine. We did not order the paper. This happened two and a half years ago and I got a phone call today from them wondering why it wasn' t paid. I have never heard of the company, don't know if we ever received the paper. They had faxed invoices in the past. I was told by their collections department that if I paid today 210.62 they would waive the interest charge of 130.00. I asked for proof of their phone call to my staff. She said there is a recording that will take about a month to dig out. As far as proof of delivery, she was willing to give me the postal tracking number and it would be my job to get the confirmation from Canada Post! It was up to me to prove I did not receive it. The interesting part was that if I settled today without asking for the proof, I would not have to pay the interest. If I insisted on the copy of the tape, which they play on the phone to me, then I would pay the interest. This doesn't sound like good business practices to me.

This lady was very persistant on the phone, was very convincing, and I almost fell for it just to get her off my back. Then when I got a bit more information from her and did a google search and found all of the other complaints, I realized that there was some crooked work going on.

I will not be paying. And next time I won't waste my time on the phone either.
