, First Canadian Place Sent a Scam lette

I got a letter in the mail titled AWARD CLAIM FINAL NOTICE. Right off the bat i knew this was a scam because obviously I haven't received any prior notices.

I will type up the whole contents of this letter so it is easier to find on the internet.

Dear Winner,
We are pleased to inform you that you are on of the declared winners of the INTERNATIONAL SHOPPING SWEEPSTAKES LOTTERY promotions held on JANUARY 28TH, 2009 in the 2nd category.

A ticket with serial numbers SCD 3948093783 ATTACHED TO YOUR NAME DREW THE LUCKY WINNING NUMBERS 786796335434.

You are therefore entitled to the sum of $245, 000.00 US dollars. This is a total prize money of $4, 900, 000.00 US dollars that was shared among 20 declared winners. Please note that all the participants were selected through a random computer ballot system drawn from over 100, 000 names.

i don't feel like typing the rest, but it goes on saying the enclosed check of $4775.00 is for you to pay the taxes on the winning prize. don't attempt to cash the check untill you have talked to your claims agent. MR. JEFF STEVENS.
