Careercorp Worldwide - placement ripoff and fraud!

I received a call from some Karen Farmer from carrercop's office saying they found my resume on monster.com and would like to arrange for an interview. She asked me to come on a particular day and time and sent me an email to follow up. She also told me that I would be intereviewed by a person named David Turner.

I couldn't make it on that day as weather was unfavorable that day and therefore, sent an email to her saying so. She came back that she has re-sheduled the appointment on couple days after...!!

So, I took my time off and after about two and half hours journey from North York to Mississauga, I reached their office. The receptionist at the desk told me David will be seeing soon. David came out and called out for someone else and half an hour passed by past the appointment time. I called out to the receptionist and asked her what is going on to which, she replied "David is running late as he couldn't keep up with the appointment schedule". At last, he came out again and called out my name, took me in a his office cabin.

David Turner introduced himself as a Director of careercorp! He started off without asking me any question at all. He said, he is gonna explain the process of recruitment, the careercorp way and he briefed me on it. I were trying to shake my head in disbelief, that was the dumbest thing I'd ever heard. Put in few words, careercorp obtains resumes in various ways (monster is just one of them) and screens candidates and forwards their profiles to the clients, provides all necesary training to the candidates and they do everything they can to market their candidates!! Nothing out of the ordinary! eh??

He went on for about 15 minutes, gave me nice figures on the numbers of resumes floating in Toronto and the number of candidates who do no turn up for the interviews and the number of candidates who get fired in the first year, blah! blah! blah! He also said, careercorp has recruited 1650 engineers so far and outsourced them to companies and government organizations throughout Canada. Then, he told me that I will have to pay CA $1250 as a refundable deposit for which he will provide a written retainer agreement!!! The reason he quoted for this - 42% of the candidates do not appear for the interviews!!!

David said, he is performing this preliminary screening to evaluate the candidate's personality, communication skills, presentability etc.

Finally, he bid farewell saying he wants me and he found my profile to be impressive. And said I'll have to appear for another interview with him and the other three directors of the company and scheduled an appointment for the next week!!! He scribbled the appointment date and time on the back of his business card. His business card reads his designation as "Director Corporate Affairs"!! Just then, he complemented my personality!!

Could you believe that? No questions asked and he says he wants to recruit me for a position available immediately and wants to prepare me well for the interview with the client... And that, he along with other three "directors" will interview me the next week!! Directors interviewing a candidates!!???

I could tell this was a fraudulent scam. I didn't say nothing to him and assured him that I would appear for the interview with the "directors" the next week. Cam home and ran a search on the internet. That's when I found the link to this website where, someone already had reported a rip off on this careercorp. I also found a couple of other links to chinese websites which say careercorp is a fraud.

I have decided that this is a scam and I will not continue with them! Never ever!!

[The sign borad at the ground level of their building reads something like corpration investments or so, I don't remember. When I mentioned this to David, he told me that it is a conglomerization several business interests...! ]
