Deceptive billing practices ripoff

Shops, Products, Services

As a followup with regards to them billing in US dollars (even though they are a Canadian company) - instead of submitting the charges in US$ and having your credit card convert at market rate x points (normally x =~ 3), they just convert currently at 1.29.. and the market rate is 1.159.. so they are making 10% on each order. I called them on this yesterday and the speech challenged customer service rep said he'd take a message and get back to me. Yeah right, after reading here I doubt that will happen.

I'm following up with my bank, the Attorney General of British Columbia (https://www.gov.bc.ca/ag/), Vancouver Better Business Bureau (https://www.bbbvan.org/index.php) and will be submitting an investigation request to the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA / Canadian version of IRS for the American readers). Since they are charging in US dollars, they need to convert to CAD$ for taxation purposes. They can either do so at the current market rate, or at the CRA prescribed rate for the year (which is an average of the market rate). This year that will be close to 1.20 to 1.22. but they are getting cashflow at 1.29? I wonder if that extra 9% is being declared as income?? I guess Mr. Alif Somani will find out soon enough.
