Bernard Haldane Associates
Questionable tactics and methods

Shops, Products, Services

I had the first interview at BHA and I was going to write an e-mail to the interviewer to tell him that I wasn't interested in career counseling courses or whatever 'services' they had to offer. I came in naively thinking that they contacted me because they have clients who are looking for my kind of experience.

When I found this WebSite it confirmed every suspicion I had, but worse. Luckily, I wouldn't have signed up anyway for a number of reasons. Firstly, I don't have the money. Also, I already have access to these types of programs for free. Further, I was expecting the traditional employment agency model. The employer is the client, the employee is the product, not the other way around.

He had obviously not read my resume, yet began assuring me that there would be no problem finding me at new career. He said, "We helped a doctor become a formula one race car driver." Another good one was, "We've done this 845, 000 times before." He said this at least a dozen times in a half hour interview.

The 'homework' I was given to bring back to the second meeting was a joke. It was obviously prepared by the recruiter/salesmen and hadn't been proofread by anyone up the food chain. Besides the obvious self-serving questions there were typos, lousy punctuation, words missing, and just plain crappy English.

I wasn't in a desperate situation, financially or emotionally, so I was at least partially immune to the BS. Others may not be so lucky. It seems that their methods are not much different than Modeling Agencies and Dance Schools (just the scummy ones, of course). They fill your head with all kinds of lofty expectations, and just when you think it all might be possible, they hit you for the money.

At the end of my 'Dear John' e-mail I put this PS:
Have you seen what is being said about BHA at https://canada-complaints.com?

If he calls me back now, he's got balls. I kind of hope he does. I'm curious to see where he would go from here.

This site is fabulous. Keep it up!
