Virgin Mobile
Unlimited Plans Still Charge by Minute

Mobile Phones

I signed up for an Unlimited Calls to Canada and the United States on a pre-paid plan. I paid $50 for the services. I assumed "Unlimited" meant that all calls to Canada and the United States would be paid for with the monthly plan fee. I was still charged for every minute that I called the United States.

I do not know what "Unlimited" means in Canada, but it is not the same as what "Unlimited" means for pre-paid cell phone plans that I use in the States. See, in the States, when I pay for an "Unlimited" plan, all fees are included in the monthly plan cost. There are no additional fees! Unlimited Texting means that I get to send any amount of texts without any additional charges! It's awesome! And, Unlimited Calls means that I can talk as long as I want and... get this... I don't pay any additional fees!!! It's amazing!

But in Canada, Unlimited plans with Virgin Mobile mean that you still get to pay by the minute. I haven't found that description on their website, but the kind gentleman on the phone explained it very clearly to me. "WE CHARGE YOU FOR EVERY MINUTE THAT YOU TALK TO SOMEONE ON YOUR CELLPHONE WHEN YOU PAY FOR AN UNLIMITED CALLING PLAN" Can't get much clearer than that.
