I received a letter with check for $2959.06 claiming to verify me as the winner of a $100, 000.00 pay out

Miscellaneous

Today I received a letter from the International Lotto Commission dated 11/17/08 with my correct name and correct street address stating I that was verified as a 3rd grand prize winner in a $100, 000.00 pay out. Also enclosed was a check in the amount of $2959.06. The check is drawn from Comerica Bank in Santa Clara Valley, CA under the name of Friend Finder Networks, C/O Gemisys. I am instructed in this letter to call 1-514-995-5811 within 24 hours to speak to one of their agents regarding my claim. The letter was poorly written and had spelling and punctuation errors. I checked online consumer complaints and confirmed my suspicion that this is a scam.
