Mademoiselle Women's Fitness And Day Spa, 1-A Club Location upon signing up for what i thought to be a year was told i could cancel at anytime, this company is really good about that

When I signed up to participate in this gym and be a member I was told not to worry, I could cancel at any time during the year because "this company is really good about that kind of thing". Well, I discoved when I tried to cancel a few months later that the girl who told me that was fired for the reason that she was telling people this to get them to sign on the dotted line. When I called a month later to inquire a bit more about cancelling and to expain my situation I was told under no circumstance could I cancel and that no one was fired for doing what I describe above. Hmmmm, fishy eh! Well, I decide to ride it out and finally, my one year is coming to a close and low and behold I fax in my cancellation and then call them to make sure they recieved it to hear these words, "sorry, you have to send your cancellation in by registered mail or hand deliver it we don't accept faxes! " I look on my contract and sure enough it says after the year is up it will renew automatically unless they hear from me by regular mail or by hand delivering a cancellation letter. Give me a break!!! Are they trying to turn people off??? I will never recommend this company to anyone. Every step of the way they try to get you signed up to spend more and more money and they are really difficult to deal with. Read your contract ladies. Go to the YMCA instead, you never have to worry about getting screwed around and they are fair and money goes to a great cause... instead of lining the pockets of the money grabbers that own and operate this gym.
