Vermont Castings - CFM Majestic
No longer make parts, products unfixable, warranties not honored, waste of money

Construction & Repair

I purchased a Vermont Castings Stardance DV gas stove in Sept. 2003. Five years later, I was unable to light it.

Turns out Vermont Castings was purchased by CFM, a Canadian company, and driven into the ground. While you can still purchse "Vermont Castings" stoves, be warned: your warranty is useless because the company is out of business. Also, CFM is no longer manufacturing parts, so if your Vermont Castings stove breaks (which is likely), you will not be able to get it fixed.

After three full months of two local companies attempting to get the replacement valve, and constantly being told by CFM that the part was "about to be shipped, " I was told this morning to throw away my stove and buy a new one.

You can be sure that the new stove I purchase will not be Vermont Castings or any of the companies associated with CFM. This was a costly ($2, 300) misadventure.

BTW, the people at CFM are extremely rude, in addition to being incompetent and untruthful. Stay away!
