Ripoff Left me stranded without a running furnace for 6 months and then refused to properly fix it

6 yrs. ago I bought a Geothermal heating/cooling unit called WaterFurnace from Rayco Refrigeration. Rayco installed it, and I paid over $16, 000 CDN. It is a ground source heat pump.

The only reason anyone would spend that amount of money on a heating system is because it is suppose to save the homeowner 70% of the heating bill when running 100$ efficient, with an estimated payback time of 7 yrs.

After several months I had my first problem with it. During the next 5 yrs., I have had so many problems it is ridiculous. Most major components have been replaced. It has worked at 100% efficiency for maybe a yr. out of the 6. It has not heated my water for over 3 yrs. It has been through 4 compressors which the Waterfurnace rep says is totally impossible.

I was forced to use only electric heat for 5 months (Jan 2004 to June 2004) and then again for 6 months (Dec 2004 to June 2005) because RAYCO could not figure out the problem, so they just ignored it and left me stranded. He spent 1 day at the house in early January and never returned until June.

The manufacturer offered technical help, I complained loud and demanded action, but it still took 6 months to get something done. Same thing last year (2004).

WaterFurnace Co. reps state that there is obviously something wrong and believe it to be the installation or the service. They also agree that I have not been looked after at all.

Finally after so many frustrating years of an unreliable furnace, RAYCO now states that I have a wonderful reliable furnace that has worked perfectly for 5 yrs, and now that it is in it's sixth year, the warranty has expired and he (RAYCO) is washing his hands of it. AND, this is after RAYCO had agreed to fix it completely.

I have been lied to repeatedly by this man and this company. I have been ignored for months and months, year after year forced to use electric heat only, instead of the heatpump. I have lost out on an estimated $3, 000 to $4, 000 dollars of lost savings over the past 6 years after investing $16, 000 to begin with.

No one should be able to treat people like that and get away with it. All I am is a consumer who trusted RAYCO to fulfill that trust. I have never ever been treated this badly by any company in my life!!
