Insufficient Staffing Compliment

So here I sit, an disabled 50 year old insulin dependant Diabetic, on VIA Train #79 that just left Union Station at 7:05pm - on time, for a change. I had been "running" all day (to met a specialist in a different city, including missing opportunity to eat in between all the necessary travel to even get TO him), took a GO train to Union, to catch my train within 15 MINUTES. I had intended to get something at Union but had to almost run after the VIA. Nonetheless...

As the train is pulling OUT of Union, the Conductress announces that "... due to a shortage in the number of staff on Train #79, there will be NO FOOD or BEVERAGE SERVICE available between Toronto and Windsor, this evening." WHAT THE HELL?

There are, and I COUNTED, 8 children under the age of te. The majority of whatever age group they are in, THEY ARE HUNGRY, TIRED and audibly UNHAPPY with this unbelievable situation. The kids add voice for the REST OF US in the car, that feel exactly the same.

I foolishly thought I COULD get a cheese plate and an ice cold beer as reward for all the running. Apparently VIA seems to think that the money you pay - full fare, whichever rate - you aren't worthy of someone caring about your health/safety.

I am blessed that the Counductress sensed my dire panic when I went to SEE who would have to say that to an almost full train of hard working, hard PARENTING folks), told me she would get me something from the cart.

OK? Correct me if I am WRONG but they HAVE the food and beverages just no one to peddle it down the AISLE?? Messed up thinking, TOTALLY disrespecting those they keep saying they keep us safe - just not comfortable.

Save your money, go a different mode of transportation and do, DO pack a lunch no matter which way ya go.
