Ripoff fraudulent billing bankruptcy claims bogus

My husband, I and another couple also fell prey to Bearcountry and their fabulous claims of a perfect vacation. We first made contact in October '04, sent in our three sets of dates in early 2005 and received an email stating that our itinerary was set for our second set of dates in February 2006.

The only catch was that we had to send the remainder of the money either by overnight courier or via western union within 5 days, and since I don't check my email daily, it left only 24 hours to get it done.

We had initially hoped to pay off the remainder with a credit card, but that was no longer an option, so we had to come up with the cash to pay via western union. Oddly enough, the couple who was traveling with us never received an email with their itinerary until I emailed Patricia Anderson, owner, about another question I had and mentioned this oversight.

I received regular responses to my emails from Patricia, until December 27th, 2005, when I got an autoresponse email saying that Bearcountry was filing bankruptcy and no further communication would be received and that someone would be contacting us about the above claim.

Well, no communication has been received, other than what I've read here. I've made complaints with both the California and Ontario Better Business Bureau's, and the Ontario branch is the only one to respond that they are looking into my claim. I also haven't been able to verify the bankruptcy claim.

Anyone have any suggestions? I believe there is strength in numbers, and if enough of us band together, we can make waves and maybe get some sort of justice.
