Ripoff Someone Who Claims To Be From Some Travel Promotions Called Me Yesterday To Set Up A Package Deal! ripoff

Traveling & Tourism

Some woman names Tina Husband called me yesterday because she said that I had won a trip to Florida and the Bahamas. I remember filling out a form at the Auto Show a couple of weeks ago, here in Toronto. I was so happy that I won this trip.

Anyways, she explained the deal to me. She said that the trip was 4 days/3 nights at Ft. Lauderdale, then a 2day/2night cruise to the Bahamas, and 3 days/3 night back to Orlando, Florida. She told me that I will be staying at the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale. I was under the impression that this whole trip was free, but then she started talking about the price. She told me the deal was originally $349 per person for the first 2 people if only 2 people were going, but then she was going to give me 2 extra tickets so that I can bring 2 more people, with a total of 4 people, and only paying $174.50 each.

I thought to myself, "Wow, what a great deal! " She also said that she would throw in a bonus package for me, which includes a 3 day/2 night trip to Las Vegas, and a 5 day/4 night trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Since I've been wanting to go on a trip so bad, I said to myself, wow. This is really GREAT!

After about 15 minutes on the phone, she asked me if I was gonna pay by VISA. I was surprised that they're going to take out the money so soon, so I said yes. She said that theyre going to send me a video, brochures and the itenerary in the mail in the next couple of weeks, but I would have to give her my credit card number first. That's when I felt like I'm paying $698 for videos and brochures? However, stupid of me, I gave her my number, but fortunately, my card was already maxed out already so they can't take out any money. She said that she will call me back on Friday so I have time to put in some money on my card.

After hanging up the phone, I decided to check out the Internet to see if this was legit. I've been browsing around for about 2 hours now when I found this site. I was surprised by how much people actually was scammed by this and how many people complained about this. Now I'm thinking this is definitely too good to be true. I still wanted to go on a trip, but after seeing all the complaints, I don't know.

And, by the way, can someone explain to me about this time sharing thing that they do? What would you guys advise me to do when she calls me back on Friday? And now that she already has my credit card number, I'm afraid that they're going to still use it even if I cancel the trip. Right now, I haven't had any money taken out from my account, but I'm still scared that they will do it. Should I just ask them to take my name out of their mailing list, or whatever it is that they have?
