Scamming Children wit Fraudulent checks

My 13 year old son received a letter today stating that he had won approximately 100K. They enclosed a check for $4900.00 to cover taxes, and the rest they said would be forthcoming. Needless to say, my husband and I were disturbed, so we called the number on the letter. When my husband voiced his concern the agent immediately told him to call back later. I want people to be warned that if they receive one of these letters with a check to shred it. It's no good.
