Armstrong International Movers
Armstrong Moving And Storage - The hidden cost of moving with Amstrong

Shops, Products, Services

We were scheduled to move from California to Canada, and chose Armstrong International. Everything was fine until the goods were to be delivered. On our contract, it was written that the delivery was to be between June 25 and July 11. We were promised 48 hrs (written in the contract). Driver called not even 24 hrs before and requested to meet at Customs on June 24. Armstrong told me I should meet with him because he wanted to deliver the items ASAP, even though it was one day before the earliest date written on the contract (24 instead of 25).

Driver told me that he really had to hurry and go back to deliver shipment in Arizona. So I met with him on the 24. Customs decided to inspect my goods, which they could not do that day but did the day after, on the 25. They were not happy about the fact that we packed our stuff ourselves and the moving company did not write down on their list the content of every box. They never bothered to advise us to maintain our own list and that it could be a problem at the border if we pack ourselves.

I am now being asked for an additional 1500$ above what I've already paid: the crew at the warehouse where my goods are now want 300$ for double-handling, 600$ for warehousing, and the driver wants 600$ for time that he had to wait while Customs checked my things. Sounds like complete bullshit to me.

The driver told me that he had to drive way over the amount of time that he is allowed to every day to make it to Canada in 3 days or so. He also insisted to make the delivery one day before the earliest date on the contract. The whole move was very poorly coordinated by Armstrong. If the driver had shown up on the 25, the move could have been completed on that day because Customs told me they didn't have anybody else booked on that day, so no storage would have been necessary.

This all looks like an attempt to rip us off some more money. I would definitely avoid Armstrong, unless you want the kind of trouble that we had.
