Received a casher's check in the mail in the amount of $3675 from a secret shopper employment firm- Shopping Dispursment Inc. The letter stated that they need assistance in consumer data. Breakdown of funds: $414 training pay, for me; $200 Wal-Mart shopping spree, I keep the goods; $2956 Money Gram Transfer, to any destination with any name (they only need the tracking number); $105 service charge for Money Gram.

Sounds too good to be true, well it is. After calling the number provided I talked to a representative who told me what I was supposed to do. Cash the check at my bank, wait 24-48 hours and shop, wire money, and evaluate. Easy, 1, 2, 3. I asked if this was legitiment. He said yes, and explained that companies were always seeking individuals for their feedback on customer service. And the money transfer? He explained that there were issues with funds not reaching their destination. I asked, "Do I send small amounts or one lump sum? " I was required to send the whole amount and then contact them with the tracking number. DON"T be fooled. This is all bad.

I did not trust any of this. So, I started digging for info. Sites like this one. There was positive feedback on Shop Until You Drop, which leads me to believe that they are only using their name to aid them against skeptics. Finally, I called the bank that the cashier's check was issued by, Houston Federal Credit Union. And guess what? I only told them that I received a cashier's check and wanted to verify. I did not have to say anything else, she told me the amount and the company and said it was fraudulent. There had already been several calls. No one sends you a check in the mail for nothing.
