John Whitby Beware Money Order Payable to You from Coredata Service Solutions

Shops, Products, Services

Well, this scam has hit the Okanagan. I answered an employment ad in a local paper for Mystery Shoppers in my area. The only contact in formation was a web address, www.cusservicesolutions.com so I filled in my name, address and phone number, and email, and a few days later got an envelope in the mail. There was no return address or logo on the envelope, and it contained what appeared to be a money order payable to me for $1500 from Coredata Service Solutions.

Along with the "money order" was a congratulation letter, informing me that I was selected to become one of the reps in my region. It contained specific instructions to cash the money order, to retain $150 for my fee, and to send a Western Union money transfer for the remaining funds to a 'relative' in London, England.
I took the documents to my bank, and in seconds was told that the money order was a fraud and the whole thing was a scam. I am now in the process of reporting this to the police.

A quick phone call to the number on the letter indicates that the phone number is valid, and it has a voicemail box, but I can't be bothered to waste time berating this person. I'll see if the local police and newspapers or radio are interested in letting others know that this company is trying to ripoff folks around here. If it seems too good to be true, it most likely is!
