A letter and an official looking check arrived addressed to one of my family members on May 22, 2008. I knew it was bogus; none of us had entered any sweepstakes of any kind. Out of curiosity I called the number in the letter and got a message the number was unavailable. There is another post from another person about this same company his letter is almost identical to the one we received. I contacted our bank and they made note and refered me to my local post office to file a report. The lady at my bank said if someone has already deposited a check like this and needs help they may want to call Early Warning Services 877-275-7774.

Below is the exact text of the body of the letter dated 5-12-2008

This is to inform you that you are one of the lucky winners of a sweepstake sponsored by a group of multi-national companies in North America. Your name attached to the sweepstake numbers 02-05-8-11 drew the lucky number 03-06-09-14-21 which consequently won in the 2nd category.

Your are entitled to the sum of $180, 000 US Dollars which is your total prize money. Please note that all the participants were selected through a random computer ballot system drawn from over 500, 000 names from the FEDERAL COMPUTER DATA BANK.

To expedite the processing, enclosed is a check of $4387.93 US Dollars, which has been deducted from your winning. You will be using $2, 800.00 from this check to pay for the applicable surcharges/gove. tax due on your winning. Please note that no personal information is required from you.

Please do not attempt to use this check until you call and speak with Daniel Brown at 1-905-598-6533 for activation and further clarifications. Please note that the organizers will not enter into any correspondence with any winner and there's no obligation to claiming this prize money. All unclaimed prize will be donated to charity.
